The Martian - Departure

I just finished this image and wanted to share it with the CG community. My goal with this project was to improve my character creation workflow and push myself to create something beyond my previous comfort/skill level. In that sense I consider it a success, although there is a lot to be desired still. I intend to keep working seriously on realistic characters in the future, your C&C are welcome!

For this image I wanted to capture to capture the character in the movie the Martian as he's leaving the Martian habitat. Beside the likeness I wanted to capture the expression of determination and optimism despite dire circumstances.
